  • Headlights On While Using Windshield Wipers
    When it becomes necessary to use your windshield wipers you must turn your headlights on.
  • Safety Belts / Child Restraint Law (Ord. 340.220)
    All front seat occupants must wear seat belts. Anyone under 16 years of age must wear a seat belt regardless of the type of vehicle in which they are riding or where they are seated (front or back). Children under the age of 4, or less than 40 pounds, must be in an appropriate child safety seat. Children ages 4 through 7 who are at least 40 pounds must be in an appropriate child seat or a booster seat unless they are 80 pounds or over 4’9″ tall. Children 8 and over or weighting at least 80 pounds or over 4’9″ tall are required to be secured by a seatbelt. No person under the age of 18 is permitted to ride in the back of a pickup truck that is not covered by a camper shell or similar cover.
  • Fireworks (Ord. 240.030)
    Fireworks may be discharged only on the Fourth of July from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 midnight.
  • Minor In Possession Of Alcohol (Ord. 600.030)
    No person under the age of 21 shall have an intoxicating beverage in his/her possession.
  • Skateboard Regulation (Ord. 340.290)
    No person shall operate a skateboard on any public street, sidewalk, in a park or city owned parking lot in the City of Pevely. You must have consent of the property owner to operate a skateboard on private property.
  • All-Terrain Vehicles (Ord. 340.120)
    All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s) cannot be ridden on the streets of Pevely unless they have a special permit (cost $15.00 annually) issued by the city. To qualify for this permit the ATV’s must be equipped with a bicycle flag with extends 7 feet above the ground, a fluorescent yellow orange triangular emblem mounted on the rear, muffle, and qualified spark arrestor. The driver of the ATV must have a valid operator or chauffeur’s license and must wear a helmet.
  • Junk Vehicles (Ord. 235.010)
    Any person who possesses a vehicle on his/her property that is not in running condition or is unlicensed will be served a notice either to fix and license the vehicle or remove it from the property. If the person wishes to contest the notice, he/she may file for a court hearing and post a $200.00 bond. If one of the above conditions is not met, the vehicle will be towed from your property.
  • Curfew (Ord 205.020)
    The City of Pevely has a curfew of 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 am all seven days of the week. Any person 16 years of age and under cannot be out without a parent or guardian.
  • Insurance (Ord. 300.050)
    Whenever you operate a motor vehicle within the city limits of Pevely you must have a current and valid insurance card in your possession.
  • School Bus Stop Arm (Ord. 340.250)
    All drivers of vehicles must stop when observing a school bus stopped with the stop arm extended and red lights flashing. On Highway 61-67 drivers of vehicles traveling the opposite direction are not required to stop.
  • Parking (Ord. 350.010 – 380.120)
    There are several parking regulations in the City of Pevely. Some of the more common violations are parking within 15 feet of fire hydrant, parking within 20 feet of an intersection, parking within 30 feet of a stop or signal light, parking in front of a driveway or parking within 10 feet of any mail box. In addition to these, when parking along the street you must park your vehicle so that it is facing the same direction as the flow of traffic.
  • Motorized Play Vehicles (Ord. 315.167)
    No person may ride a mini motorcycle more commonly known as a pocket rocket, motor scooter or go cart on any street in the City of Pevely.
