The City of Pevely is currently accepting applications for one (1), full-time Building Official. The Building Official is a non-exempt, hourly employee appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen.

The Building Official will have frequent contact and interaction with property owners, business owners, land developers, and other sectors of the general public. The Building Official will supervise the Code Enforcement Department, which includes the Code Enforcement Officer, and may be required to represent the City of Pevely on various boards, commissions, and task forces. This position will be expected to operate with the highest levels of professionalism at all times.

The Building Official will be expected to perform building inspections, review and approve building permit applications, identify issues and points of concern on building sites, issue stop work orders, and perform other duties as assigned. This position shall advise, be a consultant to, and attend the meetings of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Missouri Driver’s License, and previous building experience. Additional desired qualifications include electrical or plumbing experience, supervisory experience, computer proficiency, and relevant licensing from the International Code Council.
