The City of Pevely is currently accepting applications for City Clerk. The City Clerk is a non-exempt, hourly employee hired by the Board of Aldermen who reports to the City Administrator.

The City Clerk shall attend all meetings of the Board of Aldermen, shall take notes of the proceedings, and shall prepare minutes of the meetings for approval. This position will be responsible for preparing, assembling, and distributing the packets for each Board meeting.

The City Clerk shall manage and maintain all City records, ordinances, and the municipal seal. This position will be responsible for managing the process for various City licenses and will coordinate all municipal elections. This position will also be responsible for receiving and responding to submitted records requests as dictated by the Missouri Sunshine Law.

The City Clerk shall perform most human resource functions including collecting all new hire paperwork and submitting the information to the appropriate location, processing payroll, maintaining employee records, coordinating random drug screening, and other similar tasks. This position shall perform other tasks and duties as directed by the City Administrator.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Missouri Driver’s License, previous clerical or office experience, and computer proficiency. Additional desired qualifications include experience serving as a Deputy City Clerk or City Clerk, an Associate’s degree or higher, supervisory experience, and knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order.

The City of Pevely is currently accepting applications for full-time Laborers in the Street Department. The Laborer is a non-exempt, hourly employee who reports to the Street Department Supervisor.

Laborers perform various physical tasks associated with the construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets, rights-of-way, stormwater systems, and perform other public works projects in all weather conditions.

Laborers may be required to shovel, sweep, and clean streets in preparation of repairing or replacing streets. They may be required to pour and finish concrete and masonry work, fill potholes, and paint or stripe streets and curbs for traffic control. They may be required to cut grass, trim weeds, and perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

Laborers may also be required to respond to emergency calls after hours or on the weekend, stay late after hours on occasion, and operate various kinds of equipment including dump trucks, skid steers, and mini-excavators. They will be expected to respond to assist with winter storm operations on a 24-hour on-call basis as required and plow snow and spread salt as needed. The tasks listed are not exhaustive and Laborers will be expected to perform other tasks as assigned.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Missouri Driver’s License. Additional desired qualifications include a Missouri Class B Commercial Driver’s License, previous building experience, and previous experience diagnosing and repairing engines, motors, and other similar items.

The City of Pevely is currently accepting applications for one (1), full-time Code Enforcement Officer. The Code Enforcement Officer is a non-exempt, hourly employee who reports to the Building Official.

The Code Enforcement Officer will have frequent contact and interaction with property owners, business owners, land developers, and other sectors of the general public. This position will be tasked with ensuring compliance with the City’s various land development, building, and property maintenance codes.

The Code Enforcement Officer will be expected to identify code violations, inform the violating party of appropriate ways to correct the violations, and maintain complete and accurate records. This position may be called to testify in municipal court for issues relating to code violations and will be expected to perform other tasks as assigned.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Missouri Driver’s License, and computer proficiency. Additional desired qualifications include code enforcement experience, knowledge of building or construction techniques, and relevant licensing from the International Code Council.
